Position Summary Are you passionate about supporting student
well-being in a fast-paced healthcare environment? The Clinical
Assistant plays a vital role in delivering high-quality,
student-centered medical care at SDSU’s Student Health Services.
Working under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals,
this position blends administrative coordination with hands-on
clinical support to ensure efficient clinic operations and a
welcoming experience for every student. This role directly
contributes to student success by helping students stay healthy,
informed, and supported throughout their academic journey. Key
Responsibilities Patient Services: Serve as a primary point of
contact for students by coordinating appointments, verifying
eligibility, managing check-in processes, and ensuring smooth
patient flow throughout the clinic. Clinical Support: Assist
licensed healthcare providers by preparing exam rooms, stocking and
sterilizing equipment, collecting vital signs, and supporting
routine clinical procedures and basic diagnostic testing. Health
Records Management: Maintain accurate electronic health records by
entering demographic information, scanning documentation,
processing medical and insurance forms, and safeguarding patient
confidentiality. Clinic Operations: Coordinate provider schedules,
respond to daily operational changes, and help maintain an
organized, efficient, and welcoming healthcare environment. Student
Education & Resource Navigation: Provide information about Student
Health Services programs, services available, including Family
PACT, and guide students to appropriate campus health and wellness
resources. Team Collaboration: Partner with a multidisciplinary
staff comprised of health care professionals and participate in
campus outreach initiatives to support student health promotion and

(1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary
position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is
eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on
operational needs. This appointment is for an 11/12 pay-plan
position. The incumbent works 11 months per year and is paid over
12 months, with July 2027 as the anticipated off month. The
individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San
Diego. Department Summary Student Health Services offers primary
medical care and health promotion to students of San Diego State
University through a wide range of programs and services. Care is
provided by board certified physicians, certified nurse
practitioners and other medical staff including nurses, clinical
laboratory scientists, x-ray technologists, medical assistants, and
pharmacists. In addition to the basic medical care, Student Health
Services offers health education, orthopedics, osteopathic
manipulative treatment and psychiatry. The mission of SDSU Student

click here . Education and Experience High school diploma or
equivalent and familiarity with a health care setting or
combination of education and experience which provides the required
knowledge and abilities. Key Qualifications Minimum of one year of
progressively responsible professional experience demonstrating
administrative and clinical competence, with the ability to
successfully perform the duties of the position. Working knowledge
of clinic operations, including patient scheduling, reception, exam
room preparation, and medical documentation. Understanding of
aseptic techniques and proper use of medical supplies and
equipment. Ability to obtain and accurately document patient
information and support practitioners during clinical procedures.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and ability to follow
clinical instructions accurately. Proficiency in maintaining
records and entering data into electronic health systems. Strong
attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to perform
duties in a timely manner. Effective interpersonal skills with the
ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with diverse
patients and healthcare staff. Compensation and Benefits San Diego
State University offers competitive compensation and a

and professional growth. Compensation : Step placement will be
determined based on relevant qualifications and professional
experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity
guidelines. Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1
($3,461). Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow
the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement. CSU Classification
Salary Range: $3,461-$4,846 per month (Step 1 – Step 18). Future
increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract
